Terms of Service
Effective date: April 4, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Unstatus ("Service"), operated at unstatus.app. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
If you have questions, contact us at support@unstatus.app.
1. What Unstatus Is
Unstatus is an uptime monitoring and status page platform. It lets you monitor the availability of websites and services, publish public status pages, manage incidents and maintenance windows, and notify subscribers when things change.
2. Accounts
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
- One person or entity may not maintain more than one free account.
3. Organizations and Teams
Unstatus supports multi-user organizations with role-based access (owner, admin, member). The organization owner is responsible for managing membership, permissions, and billing. Invitations are sent via email and expire if not accepted.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to monitor targets you do not own or have permission to monitor.
- Send notifications or subscriber emails that constitute spam or unsolicited messages.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data or accounts.
- Abuse the API through excessive requests, scraping, or circumventing rate limits.
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose.
- Resell the Service without written permission.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
5. Free and Paid Plans
Unstatus offers a free tier and paid plans. Paid plans are billed through Polar (polar.sh). By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to pay the applicable fees. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the billing period.
- Downgrades: You may cancel your paid plan at any time. Access continues until the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds: We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.
- Changes: We may change pricing with 30 days' notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.
6. Status Pages and Custom Domains
You may publish public status pages under your organization. If you use a custom domain, you are responsible for DNS configuration and domain ownership. We provide SSL certificates automatically via our infrastructure.
You must not use status pages to host content unrelated to service status, or to publish misleading or harmful content.
If you use custom CSS or JavaScript on your status pages, you are solely responsible for the content and behavior of that code. We are not liable for any issues caused by custom code.
7. Subscriber Notifications
End-users may subscribe to your status pages via email. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of subscriber notifications complies with applicable laws, including anti-spam regulations. Subscribers can unsubscribe at any time.
8. Intellectual Property
The Unstatus name, logo, and product interface are owned by us. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to our branding or trademarks. You may not use the Unstatus name or logo without written permission, except as part of the "Powered by Unstatus" attribution on free-tier status pages.
9. Data and Content
- Your data: You retain ownership of all data you submit to the Service (monitors, incidents, status page content, etc.).
- License to us: You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data as necessary to operate the Service.
- Monitoring data: Check results, response times, and status history are stored as part of the Service and subject to retention limits based on your plan.
10. Availability and Support
We aim to keep Unstatus available and reliable, but we do not guarantee 100% uptime. The Service is provided on an "as-is" basis. We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability.
Support is provided via email at support@unstatus.app on a reasonable-effort basis.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Unstatus is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
- Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
- We are not responsible for damages resulting from missed alerts, false positives/negatives, or monitoring failures.
12. Termination
- You may delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, with or without notice.
- Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice in the Service. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Denmark.
